Typical Lesson for a Beginner

Lots of beginners take their 1st lesson to establish whether they enjoy, or are capable, of playing Golf. In my experience almost all people I have coached have the ability to improve and are capable of playing this fantastic game.

  • 30 Minute lessons fit best for beginners.
  • Discuss motivation for seeking instruction and basic plan of action.
  • Establish correct equipment e.g. Right/Left handed, Men’s/Ladies/ Seniors flex etc.
  • Basic coaching helping students to understand how to strike the golf ball and start to introduce the correct fundamentals of Aim, Grip, Stance and Posture.
  • The main focus on the 1st lesson is to install some confidence.
  • At the end for the lesson I will review what we have done and give you advice on the best way to practice to improve.
  • Before you leave we will discuss how you would like to take future lessons and book your next if appropriate.

Typical Lesson for an Established Golfer

An established golfer is any individual who has played previously and plays the game on a regular basis (once a week or more). These students need a more in depth approach, needing longer and using the most detailed analysis tools in the Academy.

  • 60 Minute lessons fit best for Established golfers.
  • Discussion about your game to determine your strengths and weaknesses, and therefore what areas to focus on.
  • If you have had previous lessons with James we will discuss your progress and next areas to improve.
  • Recording of swing data, including Flightscope Radar and Video capture, to help diagnose any swing issues. This will help us develop a clear plan of what needs to be improved and a benchmark to measure improvements from.
  • The bulk of the lesson will focus on improving golf fundamentals and swing movements to improve the highlighted issues, using various swing aids and drills to help you “feel” the new action.
  • We use Flightscope Radar and Video to measure these improvements in swing and ball flight, helping to instil confidence in the changes.
  • In reviewing the lesson I will ensure you have complete understanding in what we have done and the drills I have set.
  • Finally we will discuss any further lessons and book another in the diary if appropriate.
